Nederland niet zo duurzaam als gedacht
Het hoofdstuk ‘EDUN Live’ is inmiddels ook weer een afgesloten verhaal. Begin 2010 is het bedrijf wat wereldster Bono (U2) met zijn vrouw Ali Hewson ooit startte gedeeltelijk overgenomen door de Louis Vuitton Groep. Louis Vuitton wilde geen officieel distributiepunt van Edun-Live hebben in Nederland. En dus besloten wij, mede omdat het verder commercieel niet interessant bleek in Nederland, niet meer door te gaan met de verkoop van de t-shirts. Anderhalf jaar hebben we geprobeerd in Nederland het for-profit kwaliteitsmerk T-shirts van Ali Hewson en Bono (U2) te verkopen, maar dit bleek niet rendabel. EDUN LIVE is de nummer 1 in kwaliteits T-shirts met een missie. Het katoen is ecologisch geproduceerd en verwerkt tot T-shirts in Afrika. Door de combinatie van de hoogste kwaliteit ecologisch katoen en de zekerheid voor Afrika, dat er werkgelegenheid op duurzame basis zal blijven, wordt elke aankoop een bouwsteen voor een betere wereld.Nederland bleek hier vrijwel geen boodschap aan te hebben. Alleen TEDxAmsterdam voerde uit waar ze voor staat; goede wereldverbeterende en inspirerende idee EDUN LIVE shirt.
Grote bedrijven hebben veelal een grote mond over duurzaamheid en maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen. Maar als er bijvoorbeeld reclame gemaakt moet worden op t-shirts, dan moet dat toch maar liever goedkoop en dus op niet-duurzame wijze geproduceerd.
Ook de consument is nog steeds niet bereid om, als het er op aan komt, meer te betalen voor producten die duurzaam en met een sociale filosofische gedachte geproduceerd zijn.
