Beat the Micro Bead App nu beschikbaar
\n<\/strong>Gratis app waarschuwt voor micro plastics in verzorgingsproducten<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vandaag lanceren de Plastic Soup Foundation en Stichting De Noordzee een app die waarschuwt voor micro plastics in verzorgingsproducten. Steeds meer scrubs, shampoos en tandpasta\u2019s bevatten kleine plastic bolletjes die wegspoelen via het doucheputje en vervolgens de waterzuiveringsinstallaties passeren. Gebruikers zijn zich hier echter nauwelijks van bewust en dragen zo ongewild bij aan de steeds groter wordende plastic soep.<\/p>\n

Maria Westerbos van de Plastic Soup Foundation: \u201cMet de app kunnen consumenten de barcode van producten in de winkel scannen. Verschijnt er een rood scherm, dan bevat het product plastic. Code oranje betekent eveneens dat het product plastic bevat, maar dat de producent of winkelketen beterschap heeft beloofd. Dat zijn tot nu toe Rituals, De Tuinen, Etos, Hema, Kruidvat en Trekpleister.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jeroen Dagevos van Stichting De Noordzee: \u201cKomen deze partijen hun belofte niet na, dan gaan ze letterlijk weer op rood. Zo kunnen we controleren of ze hun woord ook echt houden. Ga daarom vooral naar de App store en zoek \u201cWARNINGS: PLASTICS INSIDE\u201d om de gratis app te downloaden. En voor wie dat niet kan: op onze websites worden de lijsten ook gepubliceerd en bijgehouden. Consumenten die nieuwe producten tegenkomen met plastics inside kunnen dat via de mail bij ons melden. De eerste meldingen komen al binnen.\u201d<\/p>\n

De app, die is ontwikkeld in het kader van de campagne \u2018Beat the Micro Bead\u2019 van een grote groep milieuorganisaties uit de hele wereld, is helaas alleen beschikbaar voor iPhones vanaf 3GS en Ipad 2. Westerbos: \u201cHelaas beschikken we over onvoldoende middelen om de app ook voor Andro\u00efd te ontwikkelen. We gaan daarom proberen om een fonds of filantroop te vinden, die uitbreiding van de app wil financieren\u201d.<\/p>\n
