Dat blijkt uit een onderzoek van Foodwatch. Onderzoek van de Consumentenbond wees eerder al uit dat het overgrote deel van de reclame en marketing richting kinderen voor ongezonde producten is. De Consumentenbond vraagt zich af hoeveel van deze onderzoeken nog nodig zijn om kindermarketing een halt toe te roepen. De Nederlandse Hartstichting en de Consumentenbond pleiten al sinds 2006 voor een stop op reclame voor ongezonde levensmiddelen. De politiek heeft eerder gekozen voor zelfregulering, waar de industrie zelf de regels bepaalt. Bart Combee, directeur Consumentenbond: \u2018Dat de zelfregulering faliekant mislukt is, toonden wij aan in 2011 en blijkt wederom uit dit onderzoek van Foodwatch. Het is aan de overheid om snel en daadkrachtig in te grijpen\u2019. Ongezonde kinderproducten De intensieve marketing voor ongezonde levensmiddelen gericht op kinderen heeft een bewezen negatief effect op het eetpatroon van kinderen. Ze krijgen teveel (verzadigd) vet, suiker en zout binnen. Kinderen hebben steeds vaker overgewicht en het teveel aan zout geeft meer kans op aantasting van de nieren en op hart- en vaatziekten op latere leeftijd. Ook is het beter ze nog niet aan een zoete en zoute smaak te laten wennen. De Consumentenbond liet in 2011 al zien dat fabrikanten dit advies massaal aan hun laars lappen. In de kindervarianten van chips, zoutjes en zoete koeken bleek soms twee tot drie keer zo veel zout te zitten als in het volwassen product.
